What you should know about Hands At Work

Health in White River, Photo in White River

Hands at Work in Africa has a staff of 35 at it's hub near White River, South Africa.
Our international offices stir up individuals and groups to partner with our African brothers and sisters in caring for the broken communities in Africa.
We identify local Christian leaders within vulnerable communities who are already demonstrating a passion to serve the poor and broken in their community and to fulfill the biblical mandate to care for the orphaned and vulnerable.

At Hands at Work, our volunteers are called by God from all over the world to serve the most vulnerable in Africa. Each of us has a unique story of how we were transformed when we stepped out in faith and were obedient to His call. Advocates give the voiceless a voice and bring hope to the hopeless. During this placement, the volunteers were out visiting communities, helping wherever was needed and observing the work of the local office teams. This is an exciting opportunity for people to come together to hear stories from Africa. As the Care Workers invested into her life, Kamali has learned how to trust and interact with others. The deeper the Care Workers have invested into her life, the more that they have been able to find out about her story. For these African leaders, Hands at Work is discipling them in four key areas. The most significant photos to us are not always the most professional or even most beautiful images. My first experience on a Holy Home Visit was back in 2013, on a team to Swaziland. Prudence shares her story and the journey that has led her to fully trust and serve in South Africa. Relationship Groups are a beautiful picture of God's desire to build community amongst His people. These groups give individuals the space to speak openly and honestly about the difficult situations that they have been faced with. Reguarly across Africa, groups of men and women who support the most vulnerable children in our communities, meet together to share and hear from one another, pray together and build relationships. When international teams return to their home country, they are asked by friends and family how their trip to Africa was. It can be overwhelming in that moment to think of a story to share. It is the hope that they will take this story home with them and share it with the people that ask how their time in Africa was. Watch this short clip and hear a snapshot of George Snyman's (co-founder of Hands at Work) heart for the most vulnerable.
